You Deserve a Pat on the Back

When was the last time an environmentalist congratulated you for your efforts or thanked you for three decades of tremendous improvements in air quality? Hmm, never? Has a deluge of negative environmental news and "green marketing" convinced you that mankind is driving the planet irretrievably toward the brink of doom? If you live in Arizona, you might be really terrified by the state's new web site, www.runningoutofair.com. (We're running out?!? Where does it all go?)

Well, the truth may not be nearly as bad as some fear mongers would have you believe. Here is a comparison of growth measures and emissions from the EPA's latest report on air quality. Click the image to enlarge it.

Nice job! While you continued to drive your car, use electricity, and grow your family and the economy, air quality improved dramatically. Surprised?

This and other good news that you won't hear from NPR, CNN, or any member of a teachers union, is the reason that I look forward each year to the upbeat and provocative analysis in the Pacific Research Institute's Index of Leading Environmental Indicators.

If you rely solely on liberal sources, you're missing a lot of the truth.
